Another successful year for the PRG

Blackwood Health Centre is a friendly family practice with a very active Patient Representative Group (PRG) and as a group we have played a major role in improving health services in Streetly and beyond.

The PRG has been heavily involved in the development of the surgery team and services this year.

In the past the group have run several educational health events and funded the purchase of useful additional equipment for the surgery. Recently the PRG have purchased a new electronic healthcare monitor for the waiting room and before that a vaccine fridge, trolleys and blood pressure machines for use in the surgery, as well as three doctors’ couches. We have also assisted the Health Centre to acquire an Audiology Clinic and a Warfarin Monitoring Clinic. We have also represented Streetly on regional groups, set up and ran a local walking group and a local dementia support group. We also assist with the annual practice surveys which included a patient survey.

The PRG group would like to thank most sincerely everyone who has so kindly donated to all our fund raising events including Dr Thornett who generously gave the donations from a wide variety of runs to the PRG funds. Our thanks also to The SCAN Magazine for their help in highlighting to a wider public our activities and achievement

New members are most welcome to join our group. Our meeting are held every 6 weeks – come and join us and have your say in helping the practice, its patients and the community.
