CQC GP Inspections
In the news recently we have heard or read about the CQC inspection of GP practices. You can read their reports by clicking the link below and entering area or post code of interest in the search box currently showing “Streetly, United Kingdom”. If you read down the webpage you will see the GP practices close to the area/post code you have entered. Where a practice has not yet been inspected you will see “We have not inspected this service yet” just below the practice name. If you click the box marked “Full Details” you can see more information about the practice and where the practice has been inspected a link to download the inspection report. Currently very few practices have been inspected (December 2013)

Know Your Rights
In April 2013 patients rights changed, if you would like to know more about this, read the documents below.
The 2013-14-Choice-Framework outlines your rights from April 2013. In the government’s vision for the NHS, the Choice Frameworks tries to make the slogan “No decision about me, without me”, becomes a reality.
2013-14 Choice Framework (PDF)
The framework allows you to choose both NHS Hospitals and private clinics that have a contract with the NHS to provide the service you need. Normally the private clinics can provide a quicker access to services, but please speak to your GP, as not all clinics can provide the full range of services you might need. The nearest private clinic to Blackwood offering NHS treatments is the Spire Little Aston Hospital.
Childrens Health
There is a good guide on the NHS website which describes the various conditions that can affect children. There is advice on how to diagnose them, how to treat them and if further advice should be obtained.
Another useful source of information on child health is from “When Should I Worry”? You can download their free booklet at PDF of the booklet
